First sight of a new home

Rose quickly grabs her pack telling her dragons to join the others as Rose joins her friends.

Z'ek pointed to one section of the forest. "Rose, you go look for any supplies good for the wyer that direction. Like moonblossom fruit, red berries, firewood, etc."He turned to the dragons. "Go hunt, bring us back one large plump cow please."He turned to Callie as the dragons flew off. "Callie go that way."He pointed to the opposite direction as Rose had gone."Meet back here in a little while"H efinished and dashed off into the trees.

Rose headed into the tree and place her create beside here and began gathering stuff for the dragons and the others.

Z'ek slowed to a walk and then looked around. He caught a familiar hide pattern in the corner of his eye, and brushed back a tree branch and saw a tunnelsnake lying there, out in the open. He cautiously steppped forward and found, very much to it's suprise, it was dead.

Rose picks some red berries for a few bushes filling her pack. The gather some moonfruit from some tree. Well she was at it she also found some wherrie eggs. She added all the food to her pack. She then preceded to gather dkindling and firewood which she tossed into her Crate.

Zenath came back to his crate with an armful of firewood and a little pack full of kindling and tsrated making a pile of the stuff he had found outside his crate. Turning around, he saw Rose walk up with her arms full of stuff as well. "Hey Rose. Is it okay if we put all our food and kindling, etc. in your crate? I think we should ask the dragon to bring back soem wildbeast for us to put in Callie and my crates'."

Rose comes back and drops her stuff as Zenath asks her a question.
"I don't see why we can't do that." Rose said.
As she spotted Florath carrying stuff with here. She runs over to help her dragon out.

Z'ek stacked everything but food and eggs in the crate and then looked up as Zenath and Aliath landed beside him. >>Z'ek we have interesting news!<<Zenath bellowed mentally.

ALana thanked Maryalice and asked Gie to go quarter fill one pot with water, and the other two women to care for the open cookfire.

Walking back to the food packs, Alana grabed a large bowlful of wildberrys and redberrys, and picking up the full bowl of crushed fruits, she walked towards the fire.

Gie had done as asked, and now was aiding the others with the fire. Their dragons looked on, amused.

Walking to the pot with the now-bubbling water, Alana threw in the berrys. Carfuly stiring and slowly crushing the fruit, she waited patently till the now stained water had evaporated to just covering the berries. She then spooned in the crushed fruit. After mixing it in well, she again got the masher and had a go at the mixture. When she was satisfied, she called Ri-Ri over to watch it, and make sure the mix didnt burn or turn to jam.

Heading back to the soaking pot, she called Gie and Maryalice to help drag the heavey pot of soaked grains to the fire. When they finaly got there, she carfuly spooned the grains into the pot. When the soaking pot was empty, Gie took it to the lake to wash. They had made the lake pleanty deep, and introduced finger fish, which would happily remove dead flakes of hide from dragons and clean up any messes left by them.

Once the grains were steaming and had turned to a porrige like thickness, Alana spooned the fruit mixture into it, carful to put just the right amount to flavor and stain the pale mix pinkish yellow.

Again Gie took the dirty pot to the lake, and the fishes movement to the pot was very visable, every fish in the lake wanted some of the food!

Stiring the breakfast slowly, Alana asked Gie and Ri-Ri to brew some Klah so that the others would have a good warming meal when the returned.

Annabelle walked through the forest looking for some more berries when she spotted a movment in the leaves, she hestitated at first but then tip-toed towards it. She heard a squarking noise which she quickly recognised as a whirrie's call. She jumed though the bushes and grabbed it by its back legs, she grabbed her dagger and smashed the handle against its wing tips. She then tied a length of rope around its neck and mouth while it was trying to cut her with its claws. She grabbed an old piece of twine she used as a collar for one of her flits and tied it around the whirrie's forlegs.
"Callie i've caught a whirrie" she called to her weyrling master

"What is it, Zenath?"Z'ek asked curiously. >>We flew over a large wild runner herd. If you need runners to pull things, you've got a supply.<<

Callie walked through a divide in the trees and stoppes short as a long, wide river ran through the ground in fornt of her. Using a dead log, she ran across and stopped, dumbfounded, as a herd of smaller-sized runners neighed in alarm only a few feet from her. She had two long lengths of rope she could use as ties/leads, so she looked for two good ones. They were all smaller-sized, but she saw two large ones she liked; a pinto mare, and a tall pinto stallion. Quickly she crouched down and tossed loops over each of their necks. After a bit of a struggle, they finally came reluctantly behind her. Callie stifled a suprised snort when she heard a tiny shrill negh and found the mare's last foal following them. It was still attached. Callie stopped and quickly hook it to it's mother's rope, and the mare's to the stallions. Callie held the stallion's lead. She heard Annabelle call to her and trotted with them to the source of the voice. Callie quickly tied the runners to a sturdy tree and ran to the smaller girl. Shocked, Callie saw she had a dead Wherrie tied upside down from her belt. "Stay here."Callie said and began groping around in the foliage. There it was! 4 little wherrie eggs. he took the girls hand and led her back to the runners. She tied all but the eggs onto the mare and stallions' backs; this was a good opurtunity to start training them. Callie and the runners and Annawalked back out into the clearing where the crates where to find a large cow in Z'ek's crate, hers empty, and the food and firewood in Rose's, who she learned had ppeared later.

Finaly happy with the state of the porrige and Klah, Alana called to Essaith. "Can you inform Zenath that breakfast is ready?" She then went to go set up a tempry table, with bowls and cuttlry and a the dry towls they still had set on the grassy ground.

Before we go, Aliath, take Callie's crate into the meadows and catch 4 female sheep and 1 male for the weyr. Zenath, take mine into the forest and catch the same amount of goats and cattle. Z'ek roped the one cow they had alread and tied it beside where Callie's apprently new runners were tied. He didn't ask about the runners, he knew he'd hear the explanation to Alana later.

Callie sat down on a large rock and began weaving vines together for fun. But she ended up with a vase-shaped thing with an interesting opening sh ethought she had a use for. She quickly braided a long vine rope and excused herself, telling Zenath she'd be back shortly. She dashed all the way to the river and toose the basket-like thing in, which had a few rocks in the bottom to weigh it down into the water. She waited about 30 minutes and then pulled it up. 5 fish! Callie got a look of pride on her face. She would definitely amke more of these for the weyr and holds in her free time. She carrie0 dthe dripping basket with the fish in it back to Z'ek.

Essaith returned the warm affectionate feelings to her mate. >>Zenath says they may be another hour yet<< Alana was not pleased with this. "The porrige will burn!" She looked around for a solution. "Ri-Ri, can you watch the porrige till the others get back?" Ri-Ri nodded, and took control of the pot.

Alana spotted P'alo with the little copper.. she had woken hungry and itchy "Shards!" Why did Callie have to take Anna BEFORE seeing to Beth! P'alo was carfuly oiling her hide, but he would lecture both girls when they returned...

Callie dashed up with her weird basket. Z'ek smiled in approval. I'll have to tell the crafters how she did that.. Just then the dragons flew in and landed. They had 5 of each kind, as Z'ek had requested. They moved the ovines, crapines, and bovines into Z'ek's box and then Callie got her new runners situated in her box. They loaded the last piles of firewood into Rose's crate. The crate was stacked to the roof with firewood to the right, and on the left were the food items in packs and Callie's basket, Anna's wherrie chick, etc. >>We're about to be there.<<Zenath relayed to Essiath as each rider hopped on and the dragons grabbed their crates. The riders went Between, and then popped up in the weyrbowl back home.

Essaith felt her mates movement "Between", felt the ripples in time and space that indicated the approch of a dragon from the senseless void. She let out a beugal, letting the weyr know that the others were arriving.

Alana smiled. She loved the fact that gold dragons could do this, tell when a dragon poped in or out. "About time". She went back to the porrige, allowing Ri-Ri to go back to her beloved Ebith, and waited a few more secconds for her mate.

Z'ek dismounted and walke dover to Alana. "Sorry we took so long. The dragons got some wildbeast for the beasthold and one for today. Callie caught 5 fish and caught herself 3 little wild runners. I intend to let her have them and train them as long as it doesn't cut into her duties."He said, hugging Alana. "Rose got soem wherrie eggs, Callie got some too, and Anna caught Beth a wherrie chick. We all got a bunch of firewood and red berries."He finished and then kissed Alana. "Is everything already done?"He asked, looking around at the set table and food. Alana worked quickly.

Callie grabbed Anna's hand and le her to the storage cavern. They emerged with oil and two brushes and jogged over to the happy-to-have-her-rider-back Beth. Callie spotted P'alo watchign them with a slight frown out of the corner of her eye. "It looks as if P'alo added some, so don't put too much." They just brushed over Beth's hide and then put the stuff up. Callie left Anna fussing over Beth and playing with her dragon. She walked towards Alana and Z'ek and then stopped a respectful distance away to wait while they talked.

Alana returned the kisses. "Its all done, now, go eat or I'll stuff it down your wherrie-neck!" She playfuly pushed him towards the makeshift table on the ground, and grabed two bowls she had already filled with the sweet, fruity porrige.

P'alo watched as Anna carfuly oil her dragonets hide. "Imperfect hide cracks Between" he repeated to himself, he could not remember how many times he had repeated this to his weyrlings over the years.

He watched as Priloth lazily glided down to greet Aliath with a hum and the offer for a scratch.

"Alright, alright!"Z'ek sat down after sticking his tongue out at Alana. He and the other riders quickly finished eating and then he stood up and wiped his mouth. He hugged Alana. "Thank you, that was great."He told her. "Riders, please gather so we can assign weyrs."He called. Callie was the first to arrive, followed by Maryalice, Kevin, and Cody.

Aliath hummed a quiet thanks and laid down so he wouldn't have to reach as far. He paused, and she leaned over and scrathed his withers for him.

Alana stood to announce. "Ive had my flits inspect the weyr sizes, and as I asked for their construsction, I know where each color needs to go"

She walked out into the weyrbowl more. "Over near the hatching sands is the leadership weyr, and beside that there are seven other queen weyrs, I will allow you ladys to squabble amoungst yourselves for the weyr of your queens choice..." She smiled as Essaith gave her an amused feeling. "The costal side weyrs belong to the bronzeranks, and as Priloth is our only non-leader bronzerank, he gets to pick his own."

Alana herd Priloths greatful rumble, and noticed that he was grooming Aliath...

"The northern weyrs in the primary bowl are the brownranks weyrs, but as we have no brownranks, they are not of issue yet. The bluerank weyrs are on the southern side of the primary bowl, and again, then blueranks may choose their own."

"The green weyrs are both all around the seccondary weyrbowl and above the weyrlake in the primary bowl" She pointed towards the lake. "The Black and Ebonys are groundlevel in the seccondary bowl."

She paused again, a glint in her eye...

"Now, go squark like wherries over your weyrs!" She watched happily as the riders and dragons scattered towards their weyrs, and walked with Z'ek towards the leadership weyr. It had definatly been an interesting few days at Cobaly Weyr...
