Introducing the Weyrfolk

Having arrived at the weyr long before Z'ek, Alana allowed the folk to congregate in the primary bowl, chatting and exited.

She asked Gie and Ri-Ri to open the gates to the inner beast hold the runner stables, and to then help Z'ek bring the beasts destined to be dragons-dinner to the weyr beast hold.

Z'ek walked a few more steps and found the gates waiting open for them. He took the runner line from the drudges and led them to the stables. The runners Callie caught a few days ago neighed in delight as the others came in. The stallion was in the first stall, the mare beside him, and then the foal, soon to be weaned, was beside it's mother. He brought Callie's 3 other runners and with her help put them in the stalls next to he rothers. Then he put her family's next to those and then he had to go to another row. The other filled the second row of stalls and the remainder of runners were his, so he took them quickly and put them in his privat stables. Soon he planned to breed Alana a suprise runner. Then Z'ek and Callie went and brought the herdbeast into the beathold with the others caught a few days ago and led the dragons, whers, and humans into the primary weyrbowl. Callie went over to stand beside P'alo and Z'ek went to consult Alana, leaving the dragons and whers waiting patiently and the humans looking around in awe.

Alana was greeted by the captain of the ship. The last of their stuff was off, a record time he said. He bid her farewell, and he and his crew, shipwhers included, left for the ship again.

Alana could not wait till Nickole, their new Whermaster, would arrive.

Z'ek walked up to Alana. "Alana, let's speak alone for a moment please."He waited for a response.

"Sure Z'ek, but lets not keep them waiting too long" They steped inside the lower caverns, where nobody could hear them.

"Well should we let the others talk for little while while you and I escort the candidates and assign them to their barracks?"

That is Ri-Ri's job. Just tell Callie to keep Anna and Beth out of sight, because the temptation to touch such a small queen may be too overwelming"

Alana kissed him sweetly on the lips "I need to go find our new healer and Headwoman among those people now"

Z'ek sighed and then had Anna and Beth go stand behind Callie where they could be seen but not approached. He went out and stood beside P'alo while waiting for Alana to return.

As Alana wandered threw the new weyrfolk, she had a funny feeling...

She suddenly turned around to see Bree, her gold flit, glowing bright gold and blooding a small lizzard. "Damt Bree! Did you have to rise NOW!!!"

She was overcome with mild mating flight senses, much less that when Essaith rose, but still...

Several of the new folk had bronze flits, who all chipred exitedly....

Flit Flight Joiner

Cheeks red with embarsment, Alana used the flits as a distraction to find the headwoman and healer. She found the healer girl, Eva, and draged her back to the small group at the front.

"Ok, now we have the healer, but I can't see our headwoman yet"

She looked up at Bree, who was now preening happily, satisfied from her flight. Rusty, her own bronze, had been told not to fly her, due to the fact that the result was dubly embarsing in public.

Betha spotted Alana looking for her and walked over. "Am I needed?"

"There you are headwoman!" Alana gave a sigh of relief. If you would be so kind as to esscort the lower cavern staff to the lower caverns, it would be most kind. I'd take the time to look around, then I'll be in our office with Z'ek, we'll need your help sorting our crates and stocking the kitchen"

Betha nodded an ok to Alana. "Where will I find the staff?"

Alana Motioned to the mass of people in the bowl. "They are in there" She smiled. "While there are no Drudges yet, you can use the Candidates to do your dutys."

Betha said a thank you and left Alana to find Ri-Ri. "I'm supposed to take the candidates to stock the kitchen. Alana sent me to fidn you..?"She said as she found her.

Ri-Ri smiled at the new Headwoman, and thrust out her hand in greeting. "I'm the candidate master, I'm sure we'll get to know each other quite well over the time we both keep our posts!"

Betha shook her hand and smiled. "Well, I'm supposed to take the candidates and stock the kitchen."She explained. "Are they all in one group?"

"Hold on a sec" Ri-Ri walked up to the group of Candidates and staff, and wherrie-whistled to get their attention.

"Staff report directly to the headwoman" She motioned to the poor headwoman "She will have the greenrider Gie show you where your chambers are, and you are to place your belongings there and report back to her"

She smiled as a small group of 20 young women began to walk towards Betha. She grined at the rest of the 30 odd candidates. "The rest of you are to meet me by the weyrlake, I and the headwoman will split you into teams according to your soon to be assingned barriks, and each will be assigned a duty"

She sighed as the group look at her like stuned wherries. She pointed to the lake "There, Go!" She smiled as they shuffled off in the general direction. "AND DONT YOU DARE GET YOURSELVES WET!!!"

She nodded towards Betha, who had her hands full with Staff. She would meet her at the lake. She began walking towards the lake herself.

Betha walked up just as one of the male(Candidate Percy) candidates splashed a female(Candidate Nikita) candidate. She was just about tell them to settle down when the female shoved him backwards and he tripped and fell with a splash into the lake.

"YOU AND YOU!!" Ri-Ri yelled at the two who had been pushing and shoving "YOUR BARRICKS WILL BE ON NUMBWEED DUTY SOON IF YOU DONT CUT IT OUT!!!" She shuddered at the thaught. When Numbweed was being made, everyone in the weyr made convinient excuses to leave, it smelled horrid! And the weeks spent collecting the leaves from their spiney plants was no fun, hard work and occasionaly painful.

With the headwoman standing beside her, the short woman belted out "BOYS TO THE RIGHT, GIRLS TO THE LEFT!!!" They quickly parted and the boy in the lake scrambled to get back with his fellows, his bronze flit making quite a racket. She recognised it as the one who had, only moments ago, flown Alana's Bree.

Percy scramble up out of the water and stood in line dripping and with Justin sitting on his shoulder. After they were all in line, he took an extremely hesitant step forward and raised his hand. "Ummm... Uh... Ma'm? Who did Justin fly?"He asked the candidate master hesitantly.

Ri-Ri smirked at the boy. "Why, your little Bronze flew the Weyrwoman's Gold Flit Bree!" She turned away, but imagned the look on the poor boys face.

OK!! I WILL NOW CALL OUT THE NAMES OF THE IGEN DORM!!! THOSE CALLED OUT WILL MOVE TO BESIDE THE WALL OF THE RIM, NEAR THE LAKE STORAGE CAVERN, AND WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION." She paused to check she has their full attention.

"Nikita, Jasmine, Megan, Ashlee. There is normaly only this many Queen Candidates, but it seems we have to many hopefuls, and the extras will have to be housed in with the other Girls"

She watched as the girls moved off. "All the girls not named already, please stay where you are, you will be housed in the Ista Dorm"

She eyed the boys next. "The next to be called out will garrison with my Guilded Ebith, over there" She pointed to her beloved Dragon "And will be housed in Fort Dorm. Percy, Lyron, Joseph, Zorlihn, Reshobis, Doncul, Justin and Morlue."

She watched as the boys all left for their garrison point. "All boys not called are to be housed in the Telgar Dorm"

"Now, in your new dormclutches, let us make our way to the dorms and get accustomed to our new home". She smiled smugly as she led the youngesters away to the barricks.
